SISL Intramural League Rules
- Good sportsmanship should be practiced and always encouraged by players, coaches and sideline spectators.
- Foul language and deliberate acts of bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated.
- Grievances should be discussed with the SASA President (soudertonsoccerpresident@gmail.com).
- A player will receive a warning for the first offense and will be removed from the league if the bad behavior continues.
- Every player should play at least half of every game.
- All teams should have a ratio of boys to girls equivalent to those present to play the game.
- No league standings are maintained. Emphasis is placed on developing soccer skills and making it fun for all involved.
- Running up the score is discouraged. Coaches should be flexible to move players around to change up the on-field dynamics if scoring continues.
- The maximum number of players on the field at any one time:
- U6 (PeeWee) / U8 – 4 v 4
- U10 – 7 v 7
- U12 – 9 v 9
- U15 – 11 v 11
- All games should be played with even sides. If a team is short players, both teams will play short sided. (Teams can also share players for the night if they wish to play appropriate numbers on the field.)
- Shin-guards are mandatory and must be worn under their socks (shin-guards cannot be exposed).
- Tennis shoes or soft cleated soccer shoes may be worn.
- Ball Sizes:
- U6 (PeeWee) & U8 – size 3
- U10 & U12 – size 4
- U15 – size 5
- Uniform (Jersey, Black shorts & Socks) all players must wear to play.
- Black or White socks must be worn to play.
- All jewelry must be removed prior to play.
- No hard plastic or metal hair accessories.
- No watches, fitness trackers, etc. are to be worn on the field. *Only medical ID jewelry*
- U6 (PeeWee) / U8
- (4) 8-minute quarters
- U10 & U12
- (4) 15-minute quarters
- U15
- (2) 40-minute halves
- Players must arrive 15 minutes prior to the game.
- U6 (PeeWee) games are Saturday mornings from 10:00am to 11:00am at Franconia Park fields.
- U8 games are divided into 2 sessions, Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday and will be played from 6:30pm – 7:45pm at Franconia Park fields.
- U10 games are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15pm – 7:30pm at Franconia Elementary.
- U12 games are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15pm – 7:30pm at Franconia Elementary.
- U15 games are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Landis Supermarket fields.
- Clear all fields to the protection of a vehicle in the event of lightning.
- If the fields are deemed unplayable, a League Official will leave notification on the league website, www.soudertonareasoccer.com, and/or posting to the league Facebook page. This means EVERYONE STAYS OFF THE FIELDS.
- Any practice/game can be canceled due to inclement weather. It is the coach’s responsibility.
- Mon-Thurs Final call will be made by 5pm for soccer cancellation.
- Saturday morning’s final call will be made by 9:00am for soccer cancellation.
- Opponent must remain outside of the center circle until the ball is touched by the team with the ball.
- Ball can be played in either forward or backwards direction.
- All jewelry must be removed prior to play.
- If not removed, the player must be removed from the field until all jewelry is removed.
- Kick-in for U6 (PeeWee) & U8.
- Throw-in for all other age brackets.
- Corner kicks in all leagues.
- U10 Fields will use the Build out Line.
- It is a tactical line used to promote playing the ball out of the back in a less pressured environment.
- Opposing players must stay behind the build-out line until the ball is put back into play.

- Off-sides shall be enforced in U10 – U15.
- U6 (PeeWee) and U8 should discourage cherry picking.
- In all matches, substitutions will be allowed as follows:
- Substitutions will be unlimited.
- Substitutions can be made with the consent of the referee at the following times:
- Prior to any throw in.
- Prior to any goal kick.
- After any goal.
- Half-time.
- No substitutions on a corner kick.
- U6 (PeeWee) thru U12 = All fouls shall result in an indirect kick. No penalty kicks
- U15 = Fouls may be direct or indirect depending on the infraction. No penalty kicks
- The ref/coach must explain all infractions to the offending player.
- Contact is unavoidable when playing the ball. Deliberate pushing and obstruction should be discouraged. SLIDE TACKLING is NOT ALLOWED and will result in a red card and EJECTION from the game. A 2nd red card issued will result in removal from the league for the rest of the season.
- Deliberate heading is not allowed in U6 (Peewee) thru U10 games. If a player deliberately heads the ball in a game, an indirect free kick should be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense.
- If the deliberate header occurs within the goal area, the indirect free kick should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the nearest point to where the infringement occurred.
- All coaches are required to complete the CDC Heads Up Concussion Training.
- Coaches will use the proper procedures for determining a player’s return to play based on the CDC guidelines for concussions.
- All games played using current FIFA rules except as modified by rules here.
- U6 (PeeWee) thru U8 – Coaches should be on the field acting as referees.
- U10, U12 and U15 – Referees assigned to the best of our ability and availability, coaches will be notified if one will not be available on their scheduled night.
- However, if a referee should not be available, coaches or volunteer parents shall act as referees for that game.
- Players, coaches and fans should treat all referees with respect.
- The referee’s decisions are Final. DO NOT Argue or challenge calls on the field. This only sets a bad example for both parents and players. If you feel discussion is necessary, TALK (not argue) with the referee between halves or at the end of the game.
- Referees will have the authority to remove coaches, players or parents that are being a disruption to the game.
- All conflicts will be escalated to the League President for further investigation/monitoring
